While there is much to see and do here in Venice, there’s much more to explore nearby. From world-class museums to the most pristine beaches, there is a little something for everyone within just a few hours of us! So, hop in the car and take one of these day trips from Venice, Florida that are the perfect add-on to any summer vacation!

St. Petersburg

Just an hour north of Venice is the charming city of St. Petersburg. With the downtown nestled on the coast of Tampa Bay and beautiful beaches to the east on the Gulf of Mexico, the area has much to offer its visitors. Downtown is a vibrant mix of shops, restaurants, and bars, plus popular attractions such as the Dali Museum and the Chihuly Collection at the St. Petersburg Museum. Spend a day at the beach, kayak the mangroves at Fort De Soto State Park, or head on over to nearby Clearwater for some of the best party beaches on the Gulf.

Tampa

Not much further from St. Petersburg is the city of Tampa. Here you can find the famous amusement park of Busch Gardens, Lowry Park Zoo, and the Florida Aquarium with experiences like the Wild Dolphin Cruise, the Penguins Backstage Pass, and Close Up Critters. These are three of the state’s biggest attractions that can all be found in one location!

Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales

Located roughly two hours from Venice, the Bok Tower Gardens is the perfect day trip from Venice Florida for those who are looking to relax. The gardens are home to the singing tower, a 205-foot art deco-style structure that houses the Carillon bells. Bells range in size from sixteen pounds to twelve tons and serenade the grounds twice a day.

Siesta Key Beach

While Venice, Florida is home to many beautiful beaches that are within walking distance of Venice Beach Villas, take a short 30-minute drive to visit one of the top-ranked beaches in the world, Siesta Key Beach. With miles of soft crystal-white sand that is said to have “diamond-like” features, Siesta Key Beach is a favorite amongst visitors. Check out nearby Siesta Key Village for restaurants, shops, and a lively nightlife.

Captiva and Pine Island Sound

Hop aboard Captiva Cruises to explore Southwest Florida’s estuary and National Wildlife Refuge of Pine Island Sound. This aquatic preserve is home to abundant wildlife, an unspoiled landscape, and is rich with history. Dolphin and wildlife cruises are available along with a cruise that explores the outer islands of the sounds including Cayo Costa State Park, Cabbage Key, and Boca Grande. The state park is only accessible by boat featuring nine miles of preserve and pristine beaches. Boca Grande is a charming seaside village where you can grab a bit to eat and go shopping.
